Roddy was a first-round pick in 2022, but he hasn’t really met expectations up to this point. He’s played for five teams and counting in three years. Perhaps his best ball so far came with Atlanta last season, where he averaged 4.5 points and shot 47.3% from the field and 37.2% from three.
Denver has cut Tamar Bates, who suffered a season-ending injury in December, from his two-way deal. In his place, they've brought in David Roddy, a fourth-year forward who last played for the Rockets. Congrats, David!
Raptors 905 has won 15 straight games to start the G League season. Their win today in the G League Winter Showcase was fueled by big performances from A.J. Lawson (26 PTS, 5 3PM), Alijah Martin (20 PTS, 5 AST) and David Roddy (20 PTS).
In a surprise move, Toronto has cut 2024 second-round pick Ulrich Chomche from his two-way deal ahead of the regular season. While Chomche didn't play much as a rookie, he's still one of the youngest players in the league at age 19 and he has oodles of untapped potential remaining. Another team should surely snag him up. The Raptors now have one open two-way slot. A.J. Lawson, Jared Rhoden, David Roddy and Olivier Sarr, who were on training camp deals, were also released by the team.
