Tonje blossomed into an All-American in his pre-draft season at Wisconsin, averaging 19.6 points per game. The Madison Hammer's polished frame and game should help him succeed at the NBA level from day one.
John Tonje lit it up for the Maine Celtics in a 119-112 win over the Osceola Magic. He finished with 42 points on 12/20 shooting and 8/10 from three, adding seven rebounds.

As part of a busy deadline, the Celtics traded veteran big Chris Boucher to the Jazz, receiving John Tonje in return. Tonje, who was picked 53rd overall last June, didn't see the floor for Utah at all, but has been posting impressive numbers in the G League this season. The rookie could see more opportunity in Boston.
Making his first appearance for the Utah Jazz after being sidelined for the past few weeks with a right ankle sprain, Tonje started and immediately stood out. He scored 16 points on 5/9 from the field, including 4/7 from three in just 23 minutes of action. He also got to the free throw line on a pair of trips, connecting on 2/4 of his shots at the charity stripe.
